This past Thursday, Kirk Shelmerdine secured a spot for the #27 in the Daytona line-up. Twenty-three drivers went into Thursday's qualifying race, striving for the four remaining spots on the starting grid. Kirk Shelmerdine qualified and is now looking forward to Sunday's world-class event.
Kirk is best known for his record-breaking achievements as Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s Crew Chief, leading the legend to four Winston Cup Championships between 1986 and 1992. In 2002, Kirk started his own NASCAR Team, KSR Racing. His statistics include 246 top tens, 142 top fives, 14 pole positions and 46 wins.
